Holiday Reading

Or, comics that I made this year and which you might be inclined to read in your free time over the next few days.

1) Sexbuzz is a science fiction comic that I finished this spring. It’s about 180 pages long. I have mixed feelings about the work as a whole but I still think the strongest sequences in it are pretty good.

2) Then I drew Territory, a short story in color about a man who plays a board game. It was made as a part of Frank Santoro’s correspondence course. I learned a lot making this!

3) I’ve also drawn several issues of REH, a comic about Robert E. Howard that is written by Brian John Mitchell. These little books were my first experiments with drawing in pencil.

4) Over the summer, I drew Hottest Chick in the Game, which was written by Sean T. Collins. It’s about the rapper Drake and the Illuminati. It was covered by Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, Truth Zone, and other Venerable Journalistic Institutions.

5) Around the same time, I started drawing one page comics for Frank Santoro’s Comics Workbook tumblr. I decided to take a break from Comics Workbook until next year after reaching exactly 100 pages. I’m excited to continue exploring the weird tone that I think I’ve started to develop for these pages.

6) Finally, I’ve spend this fall working on a book for Retrofit Comics, which will be released some time next year. It’s a collection of short stories and will be between 40 and 50 pages. I’ve gone back and tagged the posts I’ve done about that project, and I’m looking forward to sharing the final product with you soon.
