Two Important Links

1) Frank Santoro’s Correspondence Course is currently open for applications. If you’ve followed my work for a while, you may know that I took the course in 2012. Here is the comic I made with Frank’s help, and here is something I wrote about the course shortly after completing it. I recommend that you take it if you’re looking for a very affordable way to rethink and improve your approach to making comics. I am more than happy to answer any questions if you’d like to know more about my experience with the course.

2) The Sequential Art Workshop is holding a fundraiser to support its work in 2014. SAW is “comics learning outpost” that also focuses on keeping costs low. They run the SAW Microgrant as well, which awards $250 semiannually to two cartoonists, aiming to fill the hole left by the end of the Xeric grant. SAW is obviously running on a tight budget – they’re holding a fundraiser, after all – and they don’t have to offer this grant. But they do. I think that’s admirable. I won a SAW microgrant to print Black Pillars #2, so if you have enjoyed my work then maybe you could consider supporting an institution that has supported me. This page seems to indicate that you could donate directly to the Microgrant fund if you’d like.

Thanks.
