In the last week or ten days I worked on a project which you’ll never see and which didn’t push at the limits of my artistic abilities or ambitions in the way that I’d hope my best art does. But it flowed out quickly and easily, and I’m on balance happy with it, and I’m fairly sure it will serve the specific purpose which it is intended to serve. So that’s something. But I’m interested in lots of other somethings too.

Possibly no more prose fiction for the rest of the year, because something has to give in the next few months and it might be that. It would be too bad, because I haven’t read books I’ve truly loved this year except Lydia Davis stuff. (Which, to be clear, I loved very much indeed.)

Thinking about commitments to efficiency, to producing. Ambitions versus plans versus balance versus focus.
