January

This post is very late! I was busy first with editing a long story (now almost done, you’ll see it in Yearly 2019) and then with several weeks of unexpected travel. So now I’m looking forward to getting back into my normal routine, a part of which is making these posts on time.

Here are two quotes I liked from Alexandra Harris’ biography of Virginia Woolf:

“Some of what she wanted to record was not outwardly eventful at all. Her happiest days were often the quietest. She and Leonard took great joy in a well-organized day that is productive because each activity has its allotted space.”

“She defended [her marriage’s] ‘dailiness,’ arguing that though much of married life becomes automatic, the ‘bead of sensation’ that forms here and there is exquisite precisely because so much unconsidered shared experience had accrued.”

I’ll check in again next week, since February is almost over!
