I’m excited to share the newest issue of Yearly, my annual series of comics. It’s available to order now. If you’re new here, I’ve printed this series since 2018 and hope to continue making it until I die. The 2020 issue contains:
- Drowned River – A couple passes time in a flooded home. A story about isolation and hope.
- Everything Is Always – A poem about change and fear, drawn on cardboard.
- This Is An Empty Room – A set of instructions.
- All held together by a bellyband that contains more extras on the back!
Wow! What a big, overindulgent package! But I’m really proud of these comics and I think they fit together nicely. So I hope you enjoy reading them. You’ll also see that you can click above to read the first two stories online.
I also recognize what a weird, awful time it is for so many people. I don’t want to take space or attention away from more important things by talking about my dumb comic. As a small gesture of that hope I’m going to donate all profits from this issue to racial justice groups for the foreseeable future.
Finally, as we all continue to sit at home, I’m organizing a small set of virtual events with some of my favorite cartoonists. I’ll be “in conversation” with these folks on Instagram Live over the next few weeks, talking about Yearly 2020 and about their recent work. More info on this soon!
