I’ve been reading a bunch of interviews from the Comics Journal archives lately. Here are a few of my favorites:
Art Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly in TCJ #65, 1981
Spiegelman talking RAW, Maus, etc. while in the thick of it. Fascinating stuff.
Some especially good bits on graphic novels and newspaper strips, and some lovely sketchbook excerpts.
Frank Miller in TCJ #101, 1985.
A nice portrait of Frank Miller post-Ronin and pre-Dark Knight Returns, i.e. a very different person from the Frank Miller of today. Recommended in conjunction with the Inkstuds Bookclub on Ronin.
